Stars bring their A-game hair to BET Hip Hop Awards

Trina @trinarockstarr

While truly avant garde and ultra-revealing outfits were the order of the day on the recent BET Hip Hop Awards red carpet in Atlanta, Georgia, many of the stars opted for long, flowing tresses.

Case in point was Trina, whose almost waist-length gentle waves emanated from a deep side-parting. Debi Ogunrinde was seen with a shorter, less structured look.

Tami Roman @tamiroman

Tami Roman’s long, chestnut-highlighted hair was beautifully coifed into structured waves, resulting in arguably the most elegant look of the night.

Lakeyah @Lakeyah

Lakeyah chose to wear her waist-length, centre-parted hair in long, loose, fulsome waves. Ari Fletcher, whose barely-there outfit made one wonder how on earth it stayed in place, had a very glamorous and lofty half-updo and long, parted fringe. Sporting a similar look but with a bit more clothing, was Dreezy.

Ice Spice @icespicee

Ice Spice was one of the few stars to rock short hair – a mass of ginger-hued tight curls. Remy Ma went for a platinum blonde lob with bangs so long they extended to below her eyes.

Hip hop pioneer Lil’ Kim styled her grass-green hair in a high ponytail with a fountain of tight waves, while Dream Doll went for ‘Old Hollywood’ glam with her long blonde hair in a deep-side parting and gently flicked back from the shoulders down. Glorilla went for a similar, albeit collar-bone length, style and in a more platinum shade.

Big Boss Vette @bigbossvette

Big Boss Vette opted for a sleek, centre parted bob with gelled edges at the temples. Talking of gelled edges, Nzinga Imani’s were bejeweled and framed a spectacular, super-high, fish-tail plait, while Dess Dior’s gelled edges were complemented by Zulu knots all over her head.

Two high plaits adorned Baby Tate’s head and sat atop thigh-length straight strands, with gelled edges on the forehead. Sydney Madden opted for shoulder-length tight waves and mahogany highlights. (Report by Joanna Sterkowicz)
