The inaugural Salon International Hair Awards Proudly Sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional has been launched to acknowledge and award excellence in South Africa’s professional hairdressing industry.
Winners will be announced at a glittering Gala Dinner to be held on Monday, 24 February 2020 at The Venue, in Johannesburg’s Melrose Arch.
The Salon International Hair Awards Proudly Sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional is backed by years of experience from the Professional Beauty Group, which has a long history of organising awards events and trade shows in South Africa, the UK, Dubai and India.
Stylists, colourists, managers and salons have until 20 January 2020 to enter the Creative Photographic and Business categories of the competition. Entries will be judged by independent industry experts. A third category – the Industry Awards – will open shortly to nominations from the industry to recognise top suppliers.
Says Phil Woods, commercial director of Salon International, the premier professional hair expo that takes place annually at Gallagher Convention Centre at the end of September: “These awards have been introduced to acknowledge talent, inspiration and creativity in the industry. “There is no doubt that winning an award is an enormous boost to the CV of a hair professional and by association, the salon that he or she works in. Creative Photographic categories are: Afro Hairdresser of the Year; Fantasy Hairdresser of the Year; Cut & Colour Hairdresser of the Year; Up & Coming Hairdresser of the Year; and Overall Hairdresser of the Year Sponsored By Schwarzkopf Professional.
The Business categories are: Artistic Team of the Year; Salon Design of the Year; Marketing Campaign of the Year; and Manager of the Year.
In terms of the Industry Awards, these will be nominated by the industry itself to ascertain the following: Best Equipment Supplier; Best Hair Care Brand; Best Product Training Brand; Overall Brand Presence; and Best Sales Representative. Nominations for the Industry Awards will open in the near future – watch this space!
