Salon International hits the right mark

A huge turnout of hair stylists, barbers and colourists attended Salon International, the leading trade show for the hair industry in Africa, which ran on 1 & 2 September at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

Salon International encompassed several elements – an exhibition showcasing the latest products and technologies, a Live Stage with entertaining and informative demos, and the EOHCB Hair Competition, as well as the prize-giving ceremony for the Wahl Photographic Competition.

Says Phil Woods, commercial director of T.E. Trade Events, the owner of Professional Beauty: “The move of Salon International into hall 4 at Gallagher Convention Centre was very well received, by both exhibitors and visitors, who felt that the new venue gave the show a fresh and energised feel.

“We were delighted to see that the competitions were well subscribed and that the excellent Live Stage shows prompted lots of engagement with visitors.”

On the Live Stage, Nouvelle South Africa hosted international Italian guest artist, Manual Leale, who cut, styled and coloured models’ hair and introduced the new Re-Styling Collection. The Dark & Lovely Education team spoke about the new Goodbye Breakage Intensive Strengthening Treatment, while King Nkosi presented ‘African Glam with Natural Looks’. Wahl celebrated 100 years by cutting and clipping hair on stage, and Ladine’s presentation was called, ‘Replicating the Latest & Greatest Trends’.

Commenting on Salon International, exhibitor Mitra Rudaki, country manager of Unnique SA, said: ‘’Thanks to the Salon International team for everything – we had a very good expo.”
