Medellin franchise opens third store

The Dainfern team

The Medellin Barber Cartel Gentlemen Groomers franchise has opened its third store in under two years, in the Dainfern Square Shopping Centre in Johannesburg.

This follows the opening of the Parkhurst branch earlier this year.

Medellin founder and owner, Marlon Naidoo, launched his first store in Pineslopes, Fourways, over a year ago.

The franchise immediately stands out in the market because of its themed design concept, inspired by the TV series, Narcos, about the notorious kingpin drug lord, Pablo Escobar, who operated his cartel from the Colombian city of Medellin.

Says Naidoo: “Haircuts of modern men throughout history have never been about just grooming – it’s been about making a statement and promoting a lifestyle. There’s no stopping Medellin’s quest for defining the modern gentleman.

“Our Safe Houses (i.e. branches) are one-stop-shops for masculinity. Medellin clients walk into a 50s and 60s to 80s and 90s time capsule and can choose from an array of hair and grooming services, while grabbing a complimentary whiskey and sitting back for a revolutionary transformation.

“We are delighted to welcome Dainfern to our proud Cartel.”
