How fitting that the winner of the E! People’s Choice Award for Fashion Icon, Tracee Ellis Ross, sported a striking hairdo with which to accept her trophy in Los Angeles on 15 November.
Ellis Ross, who is famous for her roles in the TV series ‘Black-ish’ and ‘Girlfriends’, had her hair slicked back into a waist-length plait, which incorporated a snake swirl within it to give a classic look an extra twist (pun intended). At the top of her head was a dramatic side parting, with the hair framing the face swooped into a wave shape.
The show’s host, Demi Lovato, sported two entirely different hair colours and looks at the event. On the red carpet her straight, raven tresses skimmed her hips, while on the stage Lovato slayed in elbow length golden waves.
Bebe Rexha’s hair was particularly striking. The frequently blonde signer and soon-to-be-actress had her straight, below-the-shoulder hair flicked up at the edges and coloured in a particularly vibrant shade of deep red, with prominent black roots.
Popular comedian and actress, Tiffany Haddish, embraced her natural hair with aplomb and went for a flattering close crop that showed off her face.
Reality star, Chrishell Stause of ‘Selling Sunset’, swapped out her usual side-parting for a set of curtain bangs (fringe parted down the middle and framing the face on each side), which are currently trending.
Jennifer Lopes, recipient of the People’s Icon Award, did not disappoint in the glamour stakes, wearing her glossy hair in a very high ponytail right on the top of her head, and cascading like a waterfall on each side of her face.
Famous Hollywood redhead, Christina Hendricks of ‘Mad Men’ fame, looked like a 1940s siren of the big screen, with glamorous shoulder-length waves emanating from a side-parting.
Young social media personality, Addison Rae, had her long, middle-parted hair clipped behind her head and loose down her back, while comic actress, Leslie Jones, had her natural hair teased into a striking, vertical updo with spiked ends. Jones won the Comic Act award.
The E! People’s Choice Awards event was socially distanced due to the coronavirus pandemic, with all presenters and recipients far away from each other both on the red carpet and the stage. Plus, there was no audience present. Instead, there were enormous video walls on each side of the stage, with the VIP guests attending online in their own homes.
